Mode S MSSR with ADS-B 1090 function «Aurora» - the first Russian monopulse secondary radar with mode S.

Standard monitoring in mode S (coordinates: downrange, azimuth, barometric altitude, mode code A, aircraft identification, mode address S) was added to 3 MSSR «Aurora» surveillance channels (RBS, ATC, ADS-B 1090ES).

MSSR in mode S with enhanced surveillance function in mode ADS-B 1090 «Aurora» has successfully passed certified tests in December 2011 and got supplement №3 to type certificate №532.
Radar fully complies with ICAO requirements Annex 10, volume 4 regarding MSSR and DO-260A RTCA the USA – regarding ADS-B 1090 ES.

Mode S – air traffic safety benefits by:

  • Total resolution
  • Load reduction on radio channel 1090 Mhz, particularly due to ADS-B development;
  • Sufficient increase in reliability of information by redundancy coding answers and requests;
  • Additional information from craft, chosen altitude, maneuver indication, speed.
