JSC «VNIIRA» successfully completed a large-scale project on complex equipment of «Surgutneftegaz» airport built in southwest of Yakutia in the area of Talakan oilfield. The airport is now equipped by lighting equipment and means of ground support operations.
Today Talakan airport is the first and only one in Russia, built solely by a private company.
For the first time in contemporary Russia such a serious project was executed throughout all the stages: from site selection and zero cycle to setting up modern high-tech equipment, ensuring reliable services provided for aircrafts. Despite its remote location, the airport meets the latest requirement on safety and technical equipping.
Having won the tender announced by JSC «Surgutneftegas» in July 2011 for supply and commissioning of technical equipment, JSC «VNIIRA» acted as the general contractor having provided the airport with navigation and flight solutions.
The contract covered supply, construction, installation and commissioning works of up-to-date navigation, surveillance and communication equipment, equipment of control and operators’ tower, including ATC AS «Sintez-KSA», weather and lighting equipment.
Flight test conducted in October 2012 proved all the parameters of ground-based radio-flight safety, aviation and telecommunications systems, lighting equipment of airport "Talakan" to be in line with technical standards and declared parameters.
On November 23, 2012 Tu-154 belonging to «UTair Airlines», successfully completed the first technical flight to «Talakan» airport.
On December 20, 2012 direct flight by «Boeing-737» from Surgut to Talakan was made with 26 passengers on board, representing management of «Surgutneftegas». They verified readiness of the facilities and equipment of the airport "Talakan" to start regular operations. On December 24, 2012 the airport welcomed its first scheduled passenger flight.
The technical equipment of the airport, made of «VNIIRA» in the project, ensures safe and timely flights in this area with challenging weather conditions.
